Why Use a VPN on Your Android?

Secure Public Wi-Fi

Encrypt your traffic on coffee shop, airport, and hotel networks so hackers can't intercept your data.

🕵️

Hide from Your ISP

Your mobile network or broadband provider can't see what sites you visit or apps you use.

🌍

Access Content Abroad

Travelling? Connect to a UK server to access BBC iPlayer, your streaming services, and banking apps from anywhere.

🚫

Block Tracking

Mask your real IP address so advertisers and data brokers can't build a profile from your browsing.

📵

No App Needed

Configured directly in Android Settings — no third-party app, no Play Store permissions, no extra background processes.

🔐

Troubleshooting

Common Android VPN Issues & Fixes

Can't find VPN settings on my Android

The location of VPN settings varies between Android manufacturers. Try: Settings → Network & Internet → Advanced → VPN (stock Android/Pixel). Samsung: Settings → Connections → More Connection Settings → VPN. OnePlus/Xiaomi: Settings → Wi-Fi & Internet → VPN. Or search 'VPN' in your Settings search bar.

VPN won't connect — authentication error

Your username or password was entered incorrectly. Tap and hold the VPN profile, select Edit, and re-enter your credentials exactly as shown in your welcome email. Usernames and passwords are case-sensitive — a capital letter or extra space will cause a failure.

VPN won't connect — connection error

The server address may have been entered incorrectly. Check your welcome email and verify the Server field matches exactly. Also check your internet is working without the VPN active. If you're on mobile data, ensure mobile data is enabled.

Didn't receive welcome email

Check your spam and junk folders. Search for emails from [email protected]. If not found within 10 minutes of purchase, email our support team and we'll resend your credentials immediately.

VPN disconnects when screen turns off

Some Android power management settings can kill background network connections. Go to Settings → Battery → Battery Optimisation (or similar), find your VPN service, and set it to 'Not optimised'. On Samsung devices, also check Settings → Device Care → Battery → Sleeping Apps.

Slow speeds while VPN is connected

For the best speeds, use the server closest to your physical location — a UK server if you're in the UK, for example. Your welcome email should list multiple server options. Connecting to distant servers (e.g., a US server from the UK) will naturally add some latency.

FAQ

Android VPN Questions Answered

How do I set up a VPN on Android?

Purchase your plan at clearviewvpn.com, then check your welcome email for your VPN credentials. On your Android device go to Settings → Network & Internet → VPN (or Advanced → VPN on some devices). Tap the + icon to add a VPN, select IKEv2/IPSec MSCHAPv2, enter your server details and credentials from the welcome email, save, then tap to connect.

Do I need to download an app to use Clear View VPN on Android?

No. Clear View VPN is configured directly through Android's built-in VPN settings — no third-party app required. This makes the setup lighter, more secure, and means there are no background app processes other than the VPN itself.

What Android version do I need for Clear View VPN?

Clear View VPN works on Android 5 (Lollipop) and above via the built-in VPN support. This covers the vast majority of Android phones in use today, including Samsung, Pixel, OnePlus, Xiaomi, and other brands.

Will the VPN drain my Android battery?

Battery impact is minimal. Using Android's native VPN configuration with IKEv2 is more efficient than most third-party VPN apps because it runs as a system-level service rather than a user-space application.

Why won't my VPN connect on Android?

Check that your username and password match exactly what was in your welcome email — these are case-sensitive. Also verify the server address is correct. Different Android manufacturers put VPN settings in slightly different places — if you can't find it, search 'VPN' in your Settings search bar.

Can I use Clear View VPN on multiple devices with one account?

Yes. Every Clear View VPN plan supports up to 5 simultaneous connections. Set it up on your Android phone, tablet, iPhone, Mac, and Windows PC all at the same time.

Does the VPN work on Android mobile data (4G/5G)?

Yes. Clear View VPN encrypts all internet traffic on your Android device including mobile data connections. It works equally well on Wi-Fi and 4G/5G.
